Frequently Asked Questions
If you dont find the answer to your question here, feel free to contact us via the details below...
This is the question we get asked the most, the names refer to the feather colours, however underneath the feathers it’s all a matter of taste.
Bronze turkeys have been bred from more traditional varieties and tend to have a slightly stronger, more gamey flavour. White turkeys have a slightly milder flavour but because all our turkeys are fed on home grown corn and have a good life they all taste great.
This is a big question, and depends on how hungry you are and how much you like cold turkey sandwiches! We have tried to offer a rough guide for you, but if you like lots of leftovers, add a some portions on to account for the boxing day curry or omelette! If you end up with too much leftover, check out our recipe page for inspiration.

Crowns are when we cut off the legs and back of the turkey, leaving you with just the breast meat. We offer crowns as we know not everyone wants a whole turkey at Christmas.
Just tell us what size crown you want (usually they range between 2-4kg) and we will sort it for you. The cost is the same as buying the turkey whole plus a small charge for the extra labour. The benefit of buying one direct from us is that you get the legs and a freezer bag in your box as well so you can pop them in the freezer to use at a later date.
Crowns are great for those who know they like them but if you are on the fence we would recommend a whole bird. Crowning involves extra labour to remove the back and legs of the turkey and therefore a small extra charge, which makes whole bird more cost effective, especially as you will have all of the bones to use for making stock. We also find that a whole bird cooks better and is slightly more moist than a crown.
No, we don't offer rolls or cuts of turkey off the bone. The main reason for this, is that we believe our product is at it's absolute best when cooked on the bone, rolls are more likely to dry out. So we would encourage you to try a whole turkey or a crown. If you are nervous about cooking a whole bird you can find our tried and tested method in the recipe section (there is also a really lovely stuffing recipe to try), and we are always happy to talk you through the basics when you come and collect!
We think turkey isn't just for Christmas, so if you’re looking for a bird at any another time we usually have frozen birds available, which taste as good as our fresh ones but for a fraction of the price.
Don’t worry – so do we! We deliver to lots of farm shops and butchers around Suffolk and they are all listed on our Order your turkey page. Just find your local stockist and contact them directly to place an order.
